Everything you need to understand Coach Bass, upload your hitter's video, use your development plan, and know what to do next.
Getting Started
Coach Bass is a hitter-development system for baseball and fastpitch softball.
It is designed to help hitters understand what they are doing, determine what needs attention first, train with a specific purpose, compete, and use new evidence to make the next adjustment.
The goal is development — not changing every hitter into the same swing.
The basic development loop is: upload a swing → receive an evaluation → understand the first development focus → follow your plan → work on the assigned training → compete → upload new evidence → compare → adjust.
Your hitter's development history continues over time rather than starting over with every video.
Coach Bass supports baseball and fastpitch softball hitters.
No. Coach Bass develops the hitter rather than trying to replace the hitter's swing with a universal model.
The system preserves what is working and focuses on what the available evidence supports addressing.
Coach Bass does not guess.
If the available evidence cannot support a specific first correction, the hitter continues working through the Fundamentals of Hitting while additional evidence is collected.
“Cannot determine” does not mean nothing is wrong. It means the available evidence does not support making that claim yet.
Yes. The interactive demo walks you through how the Coach Bass development experience could work for a hitter — a real game at-bat, a sample evaluation, a sample development plan, and the training that follows.
The demo's sample evaluation is clearly labeled as an illustration of the product experience; your hitter's own evaluation comes from your hitter's own video.
Video Uploads
Evaluations start with the Free Hitter Scan — one full game at-bat, analyzed automatically and then reviewed by Coach Bass before it's released. It's free with a free family account, for baseball hitters: one scan per player every 30 days.
- Sign in (or create your free family account) and add your player — the scan is saved to the player's profile.
- Go to the Free Hitter Scan page and choose the player.
- Under “Game at-bat video (MP4 or MOV),” tap the file field and select one full game at-bat.
- Confirm the file name shown under the picker is the right video, then tap “Upload one game at-bat.”
- You'll see “Got it - Coach Bass will review it.” The analysis runs automatically, then Coach Bass reads the report before anything is released.
- We email you when the report is ready. It appears on the Free Hitter Scan page and under Evaluations in your player's profile.
One full game at-bat when possible — especially the at-bat you or your hitter want to understand.
Film it from the side, with the camera about even with the hitter, at real speed.
You don't need to follow the ball and you don't need audio — an imperfect video is fine. The system evaluates only what the video actually supports.
Game evidence is especially valuable, because Coach Bass develops hitters to perform in competition — not simply to look good during batting practice.
Training, tee, and BP video can still be useful when it helps evaluate a specific development focus, and members can store swing videos on the Swing Video page.
No — you don't need to follow the ball with the camera.
When the video does show useful ball, contact, or result evidence, that adds information — in Coach Bass's words, the ball will tell you exactly what you are doing. But the system only draws conclusions the submitted video actually supports.
Upload the swing or at-bat you want to understand.
A home run or great result does not automatically mean every part of the swing was perfect, and a poor result does not automatically prove the swing was bad.
Coach Bass evaluates the available evidence rather than grading a swing solely by the outcome.
Before you submit, you can simply tap the file field again and choose a different video — the file name shown under the picker always tells you what's selected.
After a Scan is submitted, it can't be canceled or swapped from the page. If the wrong video went in, write to us through the contact page — one scan per player every 30 days is the rule, and we can help you get the right video in.
The analysis itself runs automatically after the upload. Nothing is released until Coach Bass has personally read the report, so timing depends on when he gets to it — the Free Hitter Scan page shows “Coach Bass is reviewing” until then.
You don't need to keep anything open. We email you when the report is ready, and it stays in your player's profile.
Your Evaluation
The Hitter Evaluation is the record of what the Coach Bass development system could determine from the submitted evidence.
It helps answer: What am I doing? Why is it happening? What should I address first? What do I do next?
The evaluation reads top to bottom, like a professional report:
- WHAT I SEE — the observations the video actually supports.
- WHAT THE BALL TELLS ME — included only when the video carries real ball or contact evidence.
- FIRST THING I WOULD ADDRESS — the first supported development correction, not a giant list of possible problems. When the evidence can't support one, the evaluation says so honestly.
- WHAT COULD NOT BE DETERMINED — the honest limits of this video.
- WHAT I WANT TO SEE NEXT — what the system will look for as development continues.
From there, the evaluation flows straight into Your Development Plan: the evaluation tells us what to work on; the plan is how we work on it.
Because Coach Bass is not designed to overwhelm the hitter with every possible observation.
Development focuses on finding the first thing that needs attention based on the available evidence. The hitter trains, competes, provides new evidence — and then the plan can adjust.
It means the submitted evidence did not support making that specific determination.
Coach Bass would rather tell the hitter that something cannot be determined than manufacture an answer.
No. Results are evidence, but the outcome of one swing does not by itself prove every part of the swing was correct.
No. Routine evaluations are produced automatically by Coach Bass video-analysis technology using Coach Bass's methodology.
Coach Bass provides the methodology, teaching system, calibration, content, and oversight. Something is labeled as personally reviewed by Coach Bass only when it actually was.
My Plan
My Plan is what your hitter needs to work on right now. It uses the hitter's development evidence and Coach Bass methodology to provide a current focus and the training that goes with it.
The Drill Library contains what Coach Bass teaches. My Plan contains what this hitter needs right now.
My Plan is built for a daily loop on your phone:
- Sign in and open “My Plan” from the lineup menu (spot 02).
- Read “Working on” — your hitter's current development focus — and the why underneath it, so the hitter and parent both understand the purpose.
- Work through today's fundamental: WHAT, WHY, and WHAT TO LOOK FOR.
- When today's focus has an assigned Coach Bass drill, it appears right there — work it as written.
- After training, tap the “[your hitter] trained today” button to log the day. Consistency is the goal.
- When you have a new game at-bat, use “Upload a new at-bat video” — new video is what moves the plan.
Fundamentals are the development default when the available evidence does not yet support a more specific first correction.
The system does not need to invent a mechanical problem to create work for the hitter.
Yes — when new evidence supports a change.
The development process is: observe → find the first cause → correct → swing again → observe the reaction → adjust. Development history is preserved rather than silently replacing the past.
Coach Bass does not randomly rotate development focuses simply to make the plan look different.
The hitter continues working on the supported focus until new evidence provides a reason to continue, adjust, or advance.
Drills & Training
The Drill Library is the collection of Coach Bass-authored training and drills available in the system, found under “Hitting Drills.”
It is different from My Plan: the Drill Library is what Coach Bass teaches; My Plan is what this hitter needs right now.
Drills are assigned because Coach Bass approved them for the hitter's supported development focus — every assigned drill carries the reason it's in the plan.
They are never randomly selected from the library.
Coach Bass does not invent drills simply to fill a screen.
If Coach Bass has not yet authored and approved a drill for a particular focus, the hitter still receives the development instruction for that focus — nothing fabricated, nothing extra.
Each assigned drill teaches the full picture, not just instructions:
- Read WHY YOU'RE DOING IT — the reason this drill is in the plan.
- Read HOW TO DO IT — the drill in Coach Bass's own words, including his cue.
- While training, watch for WHAT THE HITTER SHOULD LOOK FOR.
- Parents: watch for WHAT MOM/DAD SHOULD WATCH FOR — that's your job during the work.
- Know WHAT WE'LL CHECK IN THE NEXT VIDEO — it connects today's training to the next evaluation.
When a field like setup or reps isn't shown, it's because Coach Bass hasn't authored it — the drill never fills in generic instructions.
In Coach Bass's words: to be good, you have to hit every day. You are looking to be consistent.
The system tracks daily training for consistency — it does not prescribe rep counts or session lengths that Coach Bass hasn't authored.
Yes. Coach Bass is designed to teach the hitter and the parent what they are working on and why.
Parents can support training and batting practice while helping the hitter understand what to look for — every assigned drill includes what Mom or Dad should watch for.
Next Swing & Progress
Compete. Then provide new evidence.
The development loop is: TRAIN → COMPETE → UPLOAD → COMPARE → ADJUST.
The same way as the first — one full game at-bat through the Free Hitter Scan, or from the “Upload a new at-bat video” button on My Plan.
The next video is not a brand-new, disconnected process: it becomes new evidence in your hitter's continuing development history.
- Open My Plan and tap “Upload a new at-bat video” (or go straight to the Free Hitter Scan).
- Choose the player and select the new game at-bat video.
- Tap “Upload one game at-bat.” One scan per player every 30 days.
- We email you when Coach Bass has reviewed and released the report.
New evidence is evaluated against the hitter's existing development history.
Depending on what the evidence supports, the system can continue the current focus, adjust the plan, or move to the next development focus. A new upload doesn't force a change — the evidence decides.
Progress comes from development history and new evidence — what the newest video shows compared with what was being trained.
Coach Bass does not manufacture improvement percentages, grades, or swing scores. Your hitter's profile keeps every version of their development history, so you can see how the work has moved over time.
Parents
Yes. Coach Bass is a teaching system.
The goal is not for the hitter to become permanently dependent on someone standing behind the cage telling them what to do after every swing.
The hitter should learn: What am I doing? Why is it happening? What do I need to adjust? What do I do next?
Support the hitter's current plan rather than introducing a different correction after every swing.
Use My Plan and the assigned training to know what the hitter is currently working on and what to watch for — BP is for developing what your hitter needs in competition, not for feeding strengths until BP looks good.
No. Keep the hitter focused on the current development priority rather than overwhelming them with multiple simultaneous corrections.
The plan begins before the batter's box.
The hitter should use the on-deck circle to observe the pitcher and know what they are looking for — so that once they enter the box, they can react and attack.

Privacy & Video
Your hitter's videos and photos are stored privately. They are not public, they never get a public link, and access runs through your own account. A Free Hitter Scan video is seen by Coach Bass for the review and is deleted after 90 days — or sooner, whenever you choose.
Public use of any hitter's video happens only with explicit permission.
No. Member videos do not automatically become public examples, social content, or marketing material.
Public use requires appropriate permission and approval.
Your video is stored privately and analyzed automatically. The evaluation it produces becomes part of your hitter's development history, so new evidence can be compared against it over time.
Coach Bass's formal video-retention policy is being finalized before launch; until then, videos are kept privately as part of the hitter's development record.
Hitter videos and photos are private by default, are never given public links, and are used publicly only with explicit permission. Players don't sign in — they are records managed by the adult who owns the account.
Evaluations report only what the video supports, never scores or grades designed to rank kids against each other.
