Infield Development: a 12-week infield training program built around your position
Infield Development is a 12-week program for baseball infielders. Before the first session you choose the player's position (first base, second base, shortstop, third base or several) and goals, and the 36 sessions are built around them.
The work goes in order: feet first, then both sides and the transfer, then charging, turns and the bag, then range, position play and game speed.
Sport: Baseball only.

Who Infield Development is for
- Baseball infielders at first base, second base, shortstop or third base, or players who cover several infield spots.
- Players whose infield work is mostly random ground balls.
- Families who can train 2 or 3 days a week: 3 days takes 12 weeks, 2 days about 18.
Not random ground balls
Infield work without a plan is usually random ground balls. This program puts it in order: footwork and soft hands first, then both sides and the transfer, then charging, turns and the bag, then range, position play and game speed.
What the infielder develops
- Train the ready position and approach footwork
- Field the forehand and backhand and clean up the transfer
- Charge slow rollers and work around the bag
- Make accurate throws after the catch
- Extend range and play at game speed
- Follow a 12-week plan built around your position and goals
How the program runs
- Position and goals
- Chosen before the first session: 1B, 2B, SS, 3B or several.
- Length
- 36 guided sessions in order: 12 weeks at 3 days a week, about 18 weeks at 2.
- Readiness
- Every session starts with a readiness check. If pain is reported, the session stops and Infield and Outfield training stop for the rest of the day.
- Equipment
- A fielding glove and baseballs, plus items such as tennis or soft training balls, cones or markers, a throw-down base, a throwing target and a fungo bat. Each drill lists what it needs.
- Ownership
- Bought once. It does not unlock Outfield Development and is not part of the membership.
Four three-week blocks
Each block builds on the one before it:
- Feet First — The ready position and approach footwork, with soft hands
- Both Sides and the Transfer — The forehand, the backhand and a clean transfer
- Charging, Turns and the Bag — Slow rollers and work around the bag
- Range, Position and Game Speed — Extended range and position play at game speed
Infield in the CoachBass system
Infield and Outfield Development are separate Baseball programs, each bought once. A player who covers both can own both; the pain rule stops both for the day.
Throwing & Arm Care adds the daily arm-care and throwing plan, and Speed & Agility trains the first step and change of direction.
