Online Hitting Coach: Coach Kevin Bass

Coach Kevin Bass coaches hitters online through CoachBass.com, his hitter-development system for baseball and fastpitch softball. It is designed to help hitters understand what they are doing, determine what needs attention first, train with a specific purpose, compete, and use new evidence to make the next adjustment.

The goal is development, not changing every hitter into the same swing. And a hitter’s development history continues over time rather than starting over with every video.

Who your hitter learns from

Coach Kevin Bass committed to the University of Alabama for baseball and football, was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the third round of the 1998 MLB Draft, and played professional baseball. He is a hitting coach and the founder of CoachBass.com, Bass Bats and Bass Gloves.

His approach starts with one idea: the best movement is less movement™. The hands come first, and the work starts by finding the first cause.

How online coaching works on CoachBass.com

One development loop, repeated as the hitter grows:

  1. Upload a swing
  2. Receive an evaluation
  3. Understand the first development focus
  4. Follow your plan
  5. Work on the assigned training
  6. Compete
  7. Upload new evidence
  8. Compare
  9. Adjust

See how it works

Start with one at-bat: the Free Hitter Scan

Upload one full game at-bat. The analysis runs automatically, Coach Bass reviews it, and the report goes into your player’s profile. The Free Hitter Scan is for baseball hitters right now.

  1. Film one real at-bat. A full game at-bat, from the side, at real speed. Not a cage rep, not a highlight.
  2. Upload it. One video, from your phone or computer, into your free family account.
  3. The technology reads it, then Coach Bass reviews it. The analysis runs automatically. Nothing is released until Coach Bass has personally read it.
  4. Receive the report. It lands in your player's profile: what the video shows, the first thing to address, and what one at-bat cannot tell you.

What the report covers

  • What I See — The supported observations from your video. Never manufactured, never padded.
  • What the Ball Tells Me — Included only when the video actually carries ball evidence.
  • First Thing I Would Address — One correction — the headline, the why behind it, and what to tell the hitter.
  • What Could Not Be Determined — The honest limits of one at-bat. The report says what it cannot see.
  • Your Plan and Your Drills — The development focus, what to work on, and the drills for it.

Questions about coaching with Coach Bass

What is Coach Bass?

Coach Bass is a hitter-development system for baseball and fastpitch softball.

It is designed to help hitters understand what they are doing, determine what needs attention first, train with a specific purpose, compete, and use new evidence to make the next adjustment.

The goal is development — not changing every hitter into the same swing.

How does Coach Bass work?

The basic development loop is: upload a swing → receive an evaluation → understand the first development focus → follow your plan → work on the assigned training → compete → upload new evidence → compare → adjust.

Your hitter's development history continues over time rather than starting over with every video.

Is Coach Bass trying to give every hitter the same swing?

No. Coach Bass develops the hitter rather than trying to replace the hitter's swing with a universal model.

The system preserves what is working and focuses on what the available evidence supports addressing.

What happens if the video doesn't show enough to determine a correction?

Coach Bass does not guess.

If the available evidence cannot support a specific first correction, the hitter continues working through the Fundamentals of Hitting while additional evidence is collected.

“Cannot determine” does not mean nothing is wrong. It means the available evidence does not support making that claim yet.

Is Coach Bass for baseball or softball?

Coach Bass supports baseball and fastpitch softball hitters.
