What it is
Coach Bass's three attack points: inside — inside front knee; middle — belly button; outside — inside back knee. The ball is in front of the hitter at all three. Let the ball get deep in the zone instead of going out to get the pitch. There is no such thing as a roll over in hitting — that pattern just means the hitter did not let the ball get deep and went out to get it.
Why it matters
Going out to get the ball is the chain behind the so-called rollover: the front hand and knob stop, the arms are already extended, and the swing becomes all back hand.
What to look for
Contact happening at the attack points rather than out beside the body. Foul balls straight up and weak pulled contact are the patterns of going out to get it.
What good looks like
The ball hit hard out front at the proper attack point instead of rolled-over ground balls and straight-up fouls.
